Janeth was with a friend, Felipa de Jesus Payan Beltran, as they left from Sinaloa, Mexico to cross over the US border.On May 1, 2019, she was allegedly abandoned by a 'coyote' and Felipa de Jesus Payan Beltran. They told her mother that they left her on Route State 86 between miles 105 and 110 in Sells, Arizona and Nolia Reserve in Arizona.
The friend, Felipa had Janeth phone and ID in her possession and returned them to her family. Her mother has asked police to investigate Felipa de Jesus Payan Beltran for the disappearance of her daughter, Janeth Ortiz Mercado.
One person claims to have seen Janeth arrive with Felipa de Jesus Payan Beltran to Phoenix Arizona.
